Jim grew up on the 18th hole at South Muskoka in Bracebridge and began playing golf at the age of five. By age 12, he was working at the course, collecting range balls every day during the summer months. 

As a teenager, Jim worked in the Pro Shop, played as much golf as possible. At 19, he earned his professional status and began his career in golf. 

After nine years at South Muskoka, where he developed experience in every aspect of the golf industry, Jim moved to the Collingwood area in 1993. He spent seven years as an Associate Professional at The Mad River Golf Club. 

In 2000, Jim became Head Golf Professional at Cranberry Golf Resort. After three seasons, he accepted the Head Professional position at The Batteaux Creek Golf Club, where he remained for nine years. 

In the fall of 2012, Jim returned to his roots and became General Manager and Head Golf Professional at North Granite Ridge. After two seasons there, he became the Teaching Professional at Muskoka Highlands before accepting his position at Windermere Golf and Country Club in 2017. 

Jim is a graduate of Georgian College, where he received a Marketing/Advertising Diploma and was a member of the golf team. He has also enjoyed an accomplished playing career, winning multiple events as both an amateur and a professional. 

As a 35-year member of the PGA of Canada, Jim continues to bring strong enthusiasm for both playing and teaching the game, working with golfers of all levels.
